FCF is very pleased to have received artworks in response to the open calls. The selection process is taken us longer than anticipated due to the large number of applicants and the many different interpretations of the brief. It is interesting for us to see the different ways artists are developing practices in similar concepts but different methodologies. We have been inspired in how many people have responded positively to the issues raised in our manifesto. FCF feels that the responses reinforce our view that this is an important subject matter for artist to engage with.

The international nature of the responses has been a positive aspect of the experience and it has encourage us to think about internationally and offering a forum for artists across the globe.

The result of this open call is included in experiments under the heading of #experimentalinvitations1

This is an open call for artists who work with socially engaged environmental issues and who are fundamentally committed to a collaborative approach. FCF is more interested in philosophy and methodology of the artists than the media they are using.

In order to understand what FCF is looking for please read our manifesto (click here)  FCF will be a facilitating platform where participants will apply their unique contributions to generate a shared collective product. Each participant will share responsibility in guiding the creative process.

At this stage this open call is UK based. The way the process develops is dependent upon takes part, where they are based, what they want to do and how they work.

FCF has the experience of running collaborative experiments between artists, and between artists and other disciplines. Because FCF is committed to a collaborative approach we cannot entirely define what the outcome will be and how it will be presented. We expect this collaboration to be innovative in processes of generating artwork and how authentic collaborative research can produce profound creative outcomes. As a result of the collaborative nature of the process, collaborative outcomes will have a collaborative ownership.

In order to make a proposal please send us
- your initial reflections on the manifesto and a brief proposal of how you see yourself contributing to this project (max. 250words)
- CV and recent works

During the submission stage any written contributions, ideas and visual material, etc will remain the property of the proposing artist.

Deadline for this open call is 15TH OF SEPTEMBER 2014, 5PM (we are happy to accept informal enquiries until that day) EXTENDED DEADLINE.

For any further information contact FCF or functionalcollaborativefutures@gmail.com.

OPEN CALL for artworks

7/22/2014

This open call is an opportunity to submit contemporary artworks that resonate with contemporary concerns including issues around energy supply, ecology, hydrology, pollution, human influenced global warming, and tensions between national and local politics and between local democracy and multi-national business. Concepts addressed in FCF manifesto, please read for further information: manifesto

With this open call FCF seeks artworks for an online platform and other future forms such as exhibitions or publications. Our view is that there is a limited forum for this type of work and we are working to address this problem while respecting different possible approaches and methodologies.

FCF invites you to consider its manifesto to present work that may already exists or generate a direct site-specific response to it.

The ultimately aim is to generate an international network between artists with shared interest, with FCF supporting and enabling new collaborations within participants of the platform.

Please send images and text to represent your work, including an explanation of the underlying research and methodology.

Any written contributions, ideas and visual material, etc will remain the property of the proposing artist.

Deadline for this open call is 19TH OF SEPTEMBER 2014, 5PM (we are happy to accept informal enquiries until that day)

For any further information contact FCF or functionalcollaborativefutures@gmail.com.
For submissions please email functionalcollaborativefutures@gmail.com with the subject line: artworks submission.
